Coulter: Crass, Crude, and Quite Correct...

Mr.Atos

The volatile Ann Coulter strikes again. No sooner had the hyperbolic banshee spent another day as punching back of the drive by media for comments in her new book, then she is completely vindicated for America to see within 24 hours... much to the Left's dismay.

Senator Clinton was one of many, outraged by excerpts from Ann's new book, “Godless: The Church of Liberalism.” In it, Coulter examines the political phenomena surrounding Kristen Breitweiser, Lorie Van Auken, Mindy Kleinberg and Patty Casazza. These widows of the 911 WTC attacks, the so-called 'Jersey Girls' , weaved their collective personal tragedies with the 2004 Democrat Presidential campaign to manifest a questionable tapesty of sorrowful criticism of the Bush Administration. They pressured public officials for useless investigations, and meaningless legislation. They made endless network appearances. They showed up at rallies, and became a convenient surrogate of John Kerry's Presidential Campaign. They were were the perfect bludgeon... sharp, heavy, and unassailable.

Ann Coulter had the nerve to call them on it in an interview on the Today Show with Matt Lauer Wednesday,
“These self-obsessed women seem genuinely unaware that 9-11 was an attack on our nation and acted like as if the terrorist attack only happened to them. They believe the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony. Apparently, denouncing bush was part of the closure process.”

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband’s death so much.”

Now, many are denouncing Ann for her comments, and perhaps rightly so. They were crass and seemingly cruel to be sure. But, no one can deny that the Left has a repetitive pattern of exploiting circumstance in the form of tragedy to manipulate public opinion, and shield their actions and statements - often vicious and repugnant- from reproach or criticism. And the MSM is always happy to oblige with convenient respect and infinite airtime. Afterall, who can forget the abomination of the Wellstone Memorial, John Kerry's untouchable Vietnam veteran status, Cindy Sheehan's unchallenged insanity, the maelstrom of the post-Katrina victimhood, and John Murtha's superimposed Congressional omniscience. The Left gamble propriety on the fact that 'good' people will be too decent to offer any challenge. They are right. It works for Democrats time and again as a political instrument. As designed, Coulter felt the sting from both Left and Right alike, as the sanction of victimhood dissolved honest criticism into the goo of polite deference and reflexive rebuke. Funny, how Michael Moore, Ted Rall, Bill Maher, Nancy Pelosi are never held to that standard by their own.

Yet, not 24 hours after selective Coulter clips plastered television screens and blanket criticism littered search engines, there was Michael Berg in the mainstream media media forefront, commenting on the killing of Al-Zarqawi, criticizing the Administration, and likening President Bush to a savage tyrannical butcher...

"Well, you know, I'm not saying Saddam Hussein was a good man, but he's no worse than George Bush. Saddam Hussein didn't pull the trigger, didn't commit the rapes. Neither did George Bush. But both men are responsible for them under their reigns of terror...

Under Saddam Hussein, about 30,000 deaths a year. Under George Bush, about 60,000 deaths a year. I don't get it. Why is it better to have George Bush the king of Iraq rather than Saddam Hussein? "

Praise from the Left. Endless Coverage. No rebuke. No challenge. No righteous indignation from members of Congress, Democrats, or the Press. Michael Berg, Leftist activist and Congressional candidate, whose son had his head sawed off on video before the world by the very hand of Al-Zarqawi, lends the butcher forgiveness and condemns the leader of the free world who brought the maniac to justice... standing protected in the goo.

Ann Coulter may be crass. She may be crude. But, she is quite correct! And its about damn time someone has the courage to say the things she is saying.

I agree with you Mr. A. It would certainly be appropriate for the widows to speak out about the nature of their husbands' deaths, and to ask hard questions of Dems and Republicans about pre- and post- 9/11 preparations and plans, but they have certainly turned the issue into a left/right issue, stayed on the platform too long, and thrown over to a specific side; thus voiding any protection from criticism they may have been granted due to their status' (stati?) as widows. Once they stayed too long and talked too loud they transitioned from the role of grieving widows and into the role of grieving widow politicos. Then you have to take your shots.

I probably wouldn't have been as brutal and straight forward as Ann, but she is not wrong. MM
